A young boy named Todd Bowden meets and befriends an old man who lives on his street. As time passes, Todd realizes the man, who goes by the name Arthur Denker, was a Nazi who committed horrific crimes during World War II. He confronts the man and promises to not inform police if Mr. Denker agrees to tell him about concentration camp atrocities. The man has no choice but to agree, and Todd stops by his house often. Todd then becomes very fascinated by Mr. Denker's war crimes, which leads to drastic psychological effects.
