Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron star in this classic musical directed by Jean Negulesco. When wealthy American Jervis Pendleton III *(Astaire) meets 18-year-old French orphan Julie Andre *(Caron),* he immediately feels for the poor girl and sends money for her education. Although Julie writes to her mysterious benefactor several times,* she never hears back and resolves herself to getting a good education at her new school. Years later,* Jervis decides to visit Julie at school to see how she is doing and,* despite their vast age difference,* they fall madly in love.
