Human relationships with all their hopes and longings are as old as mankind itself. So are the numerous songs that have been written on the subject. When he heard that rock giants Deep Purple were searching for a new singer to replace the departing Ian Gillan, he applied for the job and was hired. So from 1973 to 1976 David gathered his first experiences as a truly professional musician. When Purple split up after three studio albums together with Coverdale, he decided to form his own band: Whitesnake. The rest is history. Many million records sold, many platinum & gold awards pave the way of a man who has probably given so much to music & received much in return. Throughout all this he has always been a piece of everything he represents, lives and breathes easygoing rock 'n' roll the same way that he does grooving rhythms or deep and touching blues: he is a walking rock & roll, rhythm & blues show, the heart and soul of the music legend Whitesnake, David Coverdale. On 'Live In The Still Of The Night', the first official Whitesnake-DVD to appear on the European market, David takes us close to the beating heart of the white snake: into London's Hammersmith Apollo. There, the live show was recorded with 13 cameras during Whitesnake s 2004 tour and preserved for posterity. The resulting excellent, high quality pictures allow the viewer to fly high over the heads of the seething crowd or get right up close to David. The band line-up is top notch: the highly energetic, powerful Doug Aldrich ( Dio, Lion) and the exceptional Reb Beach (e.g. Winger, Alice Cooper) impress here just as much as the ultimate beast behind the drum-kit, Tommy Aldridge (e.g. Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, Gary Moore ).
